How It Works

Chess you know. Dice you don't expect.

The first 7 moves are normal chess. After that, the dice decides which piece type you can move. Adapt or lose.

1-2
Pawn
Roll 1 or 2 and you must move a Pawn (or your King).
3
Knight
Roll a 3 to unleash your Knights across the board.
4
Bishop
Roll a 4 and your Bishops cut diagonals at will.
5
Rook
Roll a 5 for powerful Rook moves along ranks and files.
6
Queen
Roll a 6 and your Queen dominates the board.
King
The King can always move, regardless of the dice roll.

🎮 Quick Start

🎲 Ludo Chess Rules
Opening Phase: The first 7 full moves are normal chess — move any legal piece.

Dice Phase: After move 7, roll the dice each turn. The result determines which piece type you can move (1-2 = Pawn, 3 = Knight, 4 = Bishop, 5 = Rook, 6 = Queen). The King can always move regardless of the roll.

Move Cap: Games have a 25-move cap. If no checkmate or stalemate occurs, the result uses piece-value scoring (Pawn=1, Knight=3, Bishop=3, Rook=5, Queen=9, King=0). Higher points wins; equal points = draw.
🌐 Online Play

After the Game: Request a rematch or offer/accept/decline draws (not available in tournament matches).
🏆 Dice League Explained
Dice League is a weekly season ladder. Everyone starts in Pawn Roll and climbs through 6 divisions to Grandmaster of Luck.

Play at least 5 games per season to qualify for promotion or relegation. The top 20% get promoted, bottom 20% get relegated. Seasons reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC. Promotions earn coin rewards that increase by division.
🧩 Daily Puzzles
Puzzle mode gives you tactical positions to solve. After completion, you can replay and analyze the solution. A hint system is available with limited hints per puzzle — use them wisely!
💡 Tips for New Players
  • Prioritize king safety before chasing material in early Ludo games.
  • Keep flexible piece structures so more dice outcomes stay playable.
  • Don't trap your own minor pieces — low mobility hurts in the dice phase.
  • Track piece-value scores in close endgames; move-cap point wins are common.
  • In League, consistency matters — even losses give 0.5 points.

FAQ

Common Questions

Why can't I move the piece I selected?
It's likely not your turn, you haven't rolled the dice yet in dice phase, the piece type doesn't match the current roll, or the move is illegal in chess terms.
Is the King blocked by dice?
No. King movement is always available, even during the dice phase. You can always move your King regardless of what you rolled.
Why did a draw become a win or loss?
In Ludo Chess, draw resolution uses point tiebreaks based on remaining piece values. If one side has more material value, they're declared the winner by points.
What happens at move 25?
The game ends and uses piece-value scoring. Higher total wins. Equal totals = draw. This keeps games fast and decisive.
